Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred this morning in Greenwood.
Officials said on May 5, 2024, at approximately 5:49 a.m., a Mercury Mountaineer was traveling northbound on Greenwood Road, north of Tomahawk Branch Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the east side of the road and crashed into several trees before overturning on its roof.
Officials said the driver, 65-year-old Arnold Hockensmith, of Felton, Delaware, was not properly seat belted and pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.
