Two Dogs Injured In Sunday Morning House Fire

On Sunday morning, just before 8:10 AM, firefighters from multiple fire companies in New Castle County were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the unit block of Winding Hill Drive in Mendenhall Village, Hockessin.

Upon arrival, responders observed smoke coming from the second floor and immediately initiated firefighting efforts.

During the operation, firefighters worked to suppress the flames, which at one point revealed holes in the floor of the second floor.

Several minutes into incident crews discovered two dogs inside the residence.

One of the dogs was urgently transported to an emergency veterinary facility for treatment. The condition of the second dog remains unclear at this time.

The incident was declared under control just before 10:00 AM, although firefighting teams continued to remain on site to address any remaining hotspots.

The homeowners were not at home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
