Delaware State Police arrested two teenagers in connection with a stolen motor vehicle incident at Christiana Mall on Friday evening.
Officials said on May 24, 2024, at approximately 7:58 p.m., security officers at Christiana Mall, located at 132 Christiana Mall in Newark observed a stolen Honda Accord driving recklessly in the parking lot. When the security officers approached the vehicle, the suspects fled on foot. The vehicle, which had damage to its tire and steering column, became disabled.
The suspects were described as three black male teenagers, all wearing black ski masks. Two were dressed in all-black clothing, while a third one wore a gray sweatshirt. Troopers responded to the scene and apprehended two of the three suspects in the mall parking lot. The third suspect fled in an unknown direction.
During a search the 16-year-old suspect, was found in possession of approximately 6.18 grams of suspected marijuana and the 14-year-old suspect was found in possession of approximately 3.03 grams of suspected marijuana police said. Both suspects were transported to Troop 2 and charged with multiple crimes.
The 16-year-old was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Ferris School on a $3030 secured bond.
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $1500 (Felony)
- Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana Under 18
- Criminal Mischief Over $1000
- Resisting Arrest
The 14-year-old was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Ferris School on a $2550 secured bond.

- Possession of Marijuana Under 18
- Criminal Mischief Over $1000
