Woman Trapped After Serious Crash Tuesday Night

The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left a woman in critical condition Tuesday night.

Officials said that a serious motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle occurred at approximately 11:53 p.m. on I-95 near Basin Road. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle off the roadway that had collided with a guardrail and a light pole. The driver, an approximately 25-year-old female, was trapped in the vehicle.

Fire department personnel from the Minquas Fire Company of Newport and the Minquadale Fire Company successfully extricated the woman within about 20 minutes. After being freed, she received immediate medical attention from the paramedics for injuries to her extremities and potential internal injuries. She was then transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where she is reported to be in critical condition.
