Middletown Police have provided further details following an incident reported yesterday by First State Update.
Officials said on May 21, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, Middletown Police responded to a shots fired complaint in the 400 block of N. Catherine Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered several shell casings and vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. While on the scene, officers were informed that Lawrence Ray, a 29-year-old resident of Elkton, Maryland, had been dropped off at Middletown Emergency Hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds police said Wednesday.
The investigation showed that Ray had been involved in an altercation prior to the shooting and had fired a handgun, resulting in damage to vehicles and occupied residences in the area according to police. Ray was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and two counts of reckless endangering in the first degree. He was arraigned and issued a $70,000 cash bond.
