Armed Robbery, Kidnapping Suspects Tracked To New Castle Gas Station

On Tuesday morning at about 10:36, Newark Police responded to a T-Mobile store located in the Newark Shopping Center, 230 East Main Street, for a report of a robbery.  Responding officers determined that two male suspects entered the store wearing masks and ordered the three employees into a back room. officials said Thursday. One of the suspects displayed a handgun according to police.  Officials went on to say the suspects then stole a large amount of electronic devices from the store, along with personal property belonging to the victims, before fleeing the store.

Using surveillance cameras, witness statements, and tracking data from the electronic devices, the suspects were tracked to the area of Route 273 and Appleby Road in New Castle.

Once there, with the assistance of the New Castle County Police, officers stopped a vehicle with two occupants.  Both occupants matched the descriptions of the suspects in this incident and were taken into custody without incident.

Several readers alerted FSU to the large number of police at the scene which allowed us to grab the traffic camera photo provided above. An ambulance was also called to the scene but Newark Police did not mention why in their statement.
