Charged With Felony Drug Charges, Released On Unsecured Bail

On the evening of June 14, 2024, at approximately 9:01 p.m., a Laurel Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop near Little Creek Apartments after observing a traffic violation. During the stop, the officer noticed the driver was in possession of a box containing small plastic bags suspected to hold illegal drugs police said Saturday. The driver was detained without incident for further investigation.

Officials said a search of the vehicle revealed the box contained several individually packaged baggies of crack cocaine intended for sale. Additionally, two larger bags of the substance and suspected drug proceeds were found within the vehicle. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Heriberto Ortiz-Bedolla of Laurel,, was taken to the Laurel Police Department.

Ortiz-Bedolla faces charges for Possession with Intent to Deliver Tier 2 Quantity Crack Cocaine (Class C Felony), Possession of Tier 2 Quantity Crack Cocaine (Class E Felony), and traffic violations. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on unsecured bail.
