Crash Sends Three To Hospital, Two Critically Injured

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left three hospitalized.

New Castle County Paramedics’ Assistant PIO Oliver Kocher said a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred at approximately 9:05 Monday evening.

Crews from the New Castle County Paramedics, Minquas Fire Company of Newport, Five Points Fire Company, Belvedere Fire Company, and Delaware State Police were dispatched to the intersection of S. Maryland Avenue and Boxwood Road for reports confirmed three patients were involved in the collision.

Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics assessed and treated an approximately 35-year-old male patient who was in the care of Five Points Fire Company EMTs. This patient suffered significant trauma with suspected internal injuries. He was treated on-scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to Christiana Hospital via Five Points Fire Company ambulance, accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. His condition was critical at the time of transport.

Another 35-year-old male patient was in the care of Minquas Fire Company EMTs. He also suffered suspected internal injuries. New Castle County Paramedics treated him on-scene before he was transported to Christiana Hospital via Minquas Fire Company ambulance, accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. He was in critical condition at the time of transport.

An additional patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Belvedere Fire Company ambulance. This patient was in stable condition at the time of transport.

The Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
