Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested Andrew Lloyd, 20, and a 17-year-old male, both of Wilmington, following an investigation into an occupied nighttime burglary.
Officials said on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:59 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Candy Court in the Beaver Brook Crest community regarding a burglary. The victim reported that a suspect had entered their home overnight and stolen property. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit were notified and took over the investigation. Through their investigative measures, detectives identified the suspects as Andrew Lloyd and a 17-year-old juvenile police said Monday. Additionally, officials said they connected these suspects to several other cases involving multiple theft victims within New Castle County’s jurisdiction.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, detectives, with the assistance of the New Castle County SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Homestead Road in Wilmington, at which time both suspects were taken into custody.
Andrew Lloyd was transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters where he was charged with six felony counts of burglary third degree, five felony counts of conspiracy second degree, two felony counts of burglary first degree, two felony counts of theft $1500 or greater, one felony count of theft under $1500 where a victim is 62 years of age or older, one felony count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, one felony count of theft of a motor vehicle, and one felony count of unlawful use of a payment card over $1500. Additionally, he faces five misdemeanor counts of attempted theft under $1500, four misdemeanor counts of theft under $1500, and two misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a payment card under $1500. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $33,100.00 cash bail.
The 17-year-old male was also transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters where he was charged with six felony counts of burglary third degree, four felony counts of conspiracy second degree, two felony counts of theft $1500 or greater, one felony count of burglary first degree, one felony count of receiving stolen property over $1500, one felony count of theft under $1500 where a victim is 62 years of age or older, and one felony count of unlawful use of a payment card over $1500. Additionally, he faces five misdemeanor counts of attempted theft under $1500, two misdemeanor counts of theft under $1500, and two misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a payment card under $1500. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center after failing to pay $35,000.00 cash bail.
