Serious Accident In New Castle Sends At Least One To Hospital

At approximately 4:43 PM, emergency crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving multiple patients at the intersection of S Dupont Hwy and Quigley Blvd in New Castle.

First responders arrived on the scene to find one vehicle partially lodged under a tractor-trailer and reported at least one individual trapped inside. At 4:56 PM, Wilmington Manor Command confirmed that one patient had been freed from the vehicle, while efforts to extricate a second trapped patient continued.

During the extrication process, Wilmington Manor Command requested an additional ambulance to the scene, but it’s not clear if it was utilized. At least one patient was transported to Christiana Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. The current condition of the patient is unknown.

Initial reports suggest that the collision occurred when a vehicle stopped at the traffic light was rear-ended, causing it to be pushed into the tractor-trailer. The exact number of additional patients involved in the accident has not been confirmed at this time.

Further details will be released when they become available.
