On June 8, 2024, at approximately 7:45 PM, a Laurel Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on Georgetown Road due to a traffic violation.
Upon returning to his patrol car to conduct standard checks, the officer discovered that both the driver and passenger had active no-contact orders against each other, related to a pending criminal case in New Castle County police said Saturday. Both individuals were placed under arrest for violating the no-contact order.
During the vehicle search, an empty firearm holster was found on the floorboard. Officials said further investigation showed a handgun in the passenger’s possession. Additionally, paperwork indicated that the driver had legally purchased the firearm before providing it to the passenger according to police.
The driver, identified as Dana M. Williams, 32, of Delaware City, faces the charges of Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon A Firearm (Class D Felony), Giving a Firearm to a Person Prohibited (Class F Felony), Breach of Release (Misdemeanor), and Traffic Violations.
The passenger, identified as Brian Williams, 34, also of Delaware City, faces charges of Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited Prior Violent Felony Conviction (Class C Felony), Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon A Firearm (Class D Felony) and Breach of Release (Misdemeanor).
Both individuals were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released after posting bond.
