On June 12, 2024, Tajon Cohen, 19, of Dover, Delaware, was extradited back to the state and formally charged in connection with a kidnapping case that occurred on May 11, 2024, with the assistance of the Delaware Department of Justice.
Sgt. Timothy Maloney said that on May 11, 2024, the Milford Police Department was contacted by the victim’s family, who expressed concern for the victim’s safety. Upon contact, the victim informed officers that they had been held against their will by Cohen.
Officers discovered that Cohen allegedly forced the victim to drive him around the Milford and Dover areas and confiscated the victim’s cell phone according to Maloney. Cohen subsequently fled the area and was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Georgia.
Cohen has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, malicious interference with emergency communications, offensive touching, and menacing. Following a presentment in the Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was committed to the Delaware Department of Correction in default of $67,200 cash bail. A no-contact order has been issued between Cohen and the victim. He is scheduled to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing at a later date.
