Judge To Jack Smith, You’re Fired

In her ruling on Monday, Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case against former President Donald Trump concerning his alleged mishandling of classified information.

The decision marks a significant win for Trump, as it is the first complete dismissal among his four criminal cases.

The 93-page ruling cited the unlawful appointment of special counsel Jack Smith, declaring it a violation of the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution. “The Superseding Indictment is dismissed because Special Counsel Smith’s appointment violates the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution.”
