Laurel Bank Robbery Suspect Taken Into Custody

The Laurel Police Department has arrested David Dorvilier, 47, of Laurel, in connection with the robbery of Fulton Bank at 30204 Sussex Highway. Dorvilier was taken into custody on Tuesday, following an investigation involving local law enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On Monday morning, just before 9:30, Laurel Police Officers responded to a robbery alarm at Fulton Bank. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect had already fled the scene. Officials said a black male suspect had entered the bank, presented a demand note to a teller, and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The investigation showed that the suspect had also shoplifted from the Dollar General next to the bank just before the robbery according to police.

Officials said the community’s involvement played a crucial role in the investigation. Following the public announcement on July 29, numerous tips and leads were provided by residents of Laurel and surrounding areas. These tips, combined with investigative efforts by the Laurel Police and the FBI, led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Dorvilier.

Dorvilier was apprehended at his residence in the 600 Block of Pasture Lane, Hollybrook Apartments, in Laurel. During the arrest, officers found him in possession of cocaine and related drug paraphernalia police said. He was transported to the Laurel Police Department, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution with a bail set at $60,000 cash-only.
