Man Faces Assault Charge In Shooting That Critically Injured Victim

Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near Milton last night.

Officials said on July 14, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., troopers responded to Cool Spring Road near Fisher Road, for a Ford Explorer that crashed into a utility pole. When troopers arrived, they learned that the driver, a 27-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, had been shot in the back. He was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was driving on West Springside Drive when the suspect fired several rounds at the Explorer, hitting the victim according to police. After the shooting, the Explorer drove away and hit a utility pole a short distance away.

Officials said through investigative means, detectives identified a suspect in the shooting as 24-year-old Timmarus Perry of Milton, Delaware. Detectives have obtained a warrant for Perry’s arrest for the shooting.

On Thursday police said Perry was taken into custody on Wednesday by detectives. He was taken to Troop 4, charged with Assault 1st Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony). He was arraigned by Justice of Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $105,000 secured bond.
