Smyrna Police Investigate Shooting at George Wright Municipal Park

Smyrna, DE – Smyrna Police detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at the George Wright Municipal Park on Wednesday evening. At approximately 8 p.m. on July 3, 2024, officers responded to an anonymous call reporting gunshots at the park located in the 500 block of N Main St.

Upon arrival, officers discovered shell casings from three different firearms scattered in the parking lot. Despite a canvassing of the area, officers were met with uncooperative bystanders, none of whom claimed to have witnessed the incident police said Thursday.

Detectives have released images of three suspects believed to have discharged their weapons during the incident. Additionally, authorities are seeking information about a gray Nissan sedan with temporary registration, which is believed to be connected to the suspects.

As of this report, no victims have been located, and it is not believed that anyone was struck by the gunfire.

Smyrna Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information regarding the suspects or the vehicle to contact SPD Sgt. M Carrigan at 302-653-9217. Callers may remain anonymous.
