Victim Pistol-Whipped During Armed Robbery

The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Saturday night in Smyrna.

Officials said on July 6, 2024, at approximately 9:26 p.m., troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at the intersection of Joseph Wick Drive and Willowwood Drive in Smyrna. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking home when he was approached by 2 unknown black male suspects.

A physical altercation ensued between the suspects and victim, during which one of the suspects struck the victim in the back of the head with a handgun. After the altercation ended, the victim attempted to retrieve his jacket and other personal property from the street, however, one of the suspects threatened to shoot him if he grabbed the jacket police said. The 17-year-old victim, who had sustained a minor injury to the back of his head, then fled from the scene without his personal property.

The suspects are described as black males, approximately 18-19 years old, approximately 5’6″-5’7″ tall, with average builds. Surveillance video and images of the suspects are not available.
