On The Run For Six Years, Escaped Prisoner Back In Custody

The Delaware Department of Correction has announced the apprehension and return to custody of Andre Wright, an offender who escaped from the Plummer Community Corrections Center (PCCC) in Wilmington six years ago. Wright, who had been serving a sentence for second-degree burglary, managed to flee the facility by climbing over the perimeter fence on August 12, 2018.

Authorities did not release the specifics of Wright’s contact with law enforcement in Massachusetts, saying only that he was apprehended there. The details of his activities and whereabouts over the past six years are unclear.

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, Wright was extradited back to Delaware, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service. He is now in the custody of Delaware authorities, where he will likely see further court proceedings.
