Police: Road Rage Ends In Knife Play

A Selbyville man has been arrested following a confrontation in Dagsboro.

Officials said on August 18, 2024, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to a report of a disorderly person in the 30000 block of Peppers Creek Road.

Upon arrival, troopers spoke with a 44-year-old male victim who claimed that 47-year-old Matthew Mitchell had slashed the tires of his truck and threatened him with a knife. The incident allegedly began when the victim’s truck tailgated Mitchell on Vines Creek Road, leading to a confrontation in the Dogwood Acres Community.

According to the victim, after he exited his vehicle, Mitchell grabbed him and threatened him with a knife. The victim was not injured during the altercation.

Mitchell was arrested and transported to Troop 4, where he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, offensive touching, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and subsequently committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $16,300 secured bond.
