The Delaware State police tactical team for much of the day has been negotiating with a subject barricaded on a train bridge ( shown in photo) over the C & D Canal.
Sometime after 2:00 FSU started to get word that there was a tactical situation going on at the C & D Canal.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that the subject was on the bridge and was firing a firearm.
there have been rumors on social media that this incident is connected to the death investigation that is ongoing after a house fire on Limestone Road earlier this morning. We have been working for most of the day to try to confirm both the incident at the home and at the canal.
As a result of the incident at the canal, boat traffic in both directions was halted although there are indication that this incident may have come to a close.
Once we have all of the details from both incidents, we will update the story.
