Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a burglary following an investigation.
Officials said on August 8, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2100 block of Linden Street, in reference to a burglary incident.
Upon arrival, police located a 63-year-old female victim who had sustained serious injuries. Initial reports from the scene indicated that the woman was beaten and was later stomped on the head during the incident.
The victim was transported to the hospital and is now listed in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 43-year-old Eric Beverly as a suspect. On the same date, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division observed Beverly in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street. Police made contact with Beverly, and took him into custody without incident.
Beverly has been charged with Assault (First Degree), Burglary (First Degree), Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Theft Under $1,500.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $210,200 cash-only bail.
