Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident, with an arrest made at the scene.
Officials said on September 9, at approximately 3:55 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2600 block of North Monroe Street, in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Upon arrival, police located a 37-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Police at the scene also made contact with a 38-year-old Jeremy Hawkins, who was taken into custody without incident, and recovered a loaded handgun.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division. Following a brief investigation, Detective Wham identified Jeremy Hawkins as the suspect in the shooting incident, and obtained warrants for his arrest.
Hawkins has been charged with Assault (First Degree) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $120,000 cash-only bail.
