Wilmington, DE — At approximately 7:00 AM today, rescue crews from the Brandywine Hundred and Claymont Fire Companies, along with New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4, were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a DART bus that reportedly collided with a utility pole at the intersection of N Market St and E Forty Fourth St in Wilmington.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that four individuals are currently being evaluated by medical personnel. The impact of the crash caused the utility pole to be knocked down.
As a precaution, the incident commander has ordered the closure of N Market Street at Lea Blvd. This closure is expected to be extended due to the time required for the utility company to repair the damaged pole.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes as crews work to address the situation and restore normal traffic flow. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
