Latest Shooting Makes Seven Shot In Recent Days

Wilmington Police are currently investigating the latest in a string of shootings that have occurred in the First State recently.

The latest incident occurred Tuesday evening around 7:12 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Locust Street. Officers arriving on the scene discovered a 56-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is now listed in stable condition.

This marks just one of several violent episodes that have rocked Wilmington and other areas across Delaware in recent days.

In an earlier incident on August 31, Wilmington Police were dispatched to a shooting at approximately 1:48 a.m. in the 100 block of South West Street. Officers found 28-year-old Jose Duran-Lopez with multiple gunshot wounds near a Riverfront restaurant. Despite emergency life-saving efforts, Duran-Lopez was transported to the hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Days before, on August 29, another shooting occurred at the intersection of 2nd Street and Franklin Street, leaving an 18-year-old male critically injured. The teen was rushed to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center after being shot in the head, where he remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a separate incident on September 1 saw four individuals wounded in Milford. Officers with the Milford Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of North Street, where they found four victims. All were transported to an area hospital and are currently in stable condition.

As the investigation into Tuesday’s shooting on North Locust Street continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to step forward.
