Milford Police Make Arrests In Shooting Of Four

Milton Police have updated a shooting that left four hospitalized last Sunday.

Officials said their preliminary investigation showed that two suspects were involved in the shooting of four individuals on Sunday, September 1, 2024. 

Through their investigation, detectives were able to learn that Deontae L. King, 20 (L) of Lincoln DE, and Laquan T. Johnson, 26 (R) of Harrington, DE, conspired with one another to commit the shooting police said Sunday.  On Friday, September 6, 2024, detectives secured arrest warrants for King and Johnson related to this incident.  

On Friday, September 6, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Milford Police detectives along with their K9 unit and Harrington Police were able to take King and Johnson into custody without incident.

King was charged with two counts of Assault 1st Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), two counts of Assault 2nd Degree (Felony), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon A Firearm (Felony), Reckless Endanger 1st Degree (Felony), Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony) and Criminal Mischief Under $1000 (Misdemeanor). 

Johnson was charged with Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony).  Johnson also had a Violation of Probation (VOP) capias. 

Both subjects had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2.  King was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $168,500 cash bail only.  He was also issued a no contact order with the victims.  Johnson was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $1000 secured bail for the conspiracy charge and $15,000 for the VOP.  Both suspects were ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary.
