The Milford Police Department has made an arrest in the death of a 50-year-old woman.
Officials said on Sunday at approximately 12:55 p.m., Milford Police Department Patrol was dispatched to N. Church St in the area of SW Front St., Milford, Sussex County for an 18-year-old male subject, who was having mental health issues.
The male subject stated to officers that he had killed someone officials said Monday. Through further investigation, officers were prompted to respond to a residence in the 400 block of Lakeview Avenue in Milford, where they located 50-year-old Rose-Lourdes Gerson Garcon deceased.
Investigators took the 18-year-old male identified as Edouard Risch Oldens of Milford, DE, into custody. Risch Oldens was charged with one count of Murder First Degree and one count of Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony. Risch Oldens had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 3 where bail was set at $680,000 cash bail only.
The Delaware Division of Forensic Science has ruled this death a homicide, by stabbing. Officials said the victim and the suspect lived in the same residence in the 400 block of Lakeview Avenue as roommates. They added that the investigation confirmed they were not related to each other.
Risch Oldens was turned over to the Delaware Department of Corrections. Risch Oldens is scheduled to appear in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a Preliminary Hearing.
