Early Sunday morning, rescue teams from the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company, alongside Sussex County Paramedics, were dispatched to a residence in the 23000 block of Deep Creek Drive within the Jefferson Crossroads Development, near Lincoln, Delaware. The crews responded shortly after 6:50 a.m. following reports of a police action in progress at the location.
Emergency personnel were instructed to stage nearby until the area was secured by police already on scene. Roughly seven minutes after the initial dispatch, an additional ambulance from the Milton Fire Department was called to assist.
Shortly thereafter, Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2 was requested to respond to the scene. While the helicopter did arrive, it appears that no patients were transported by air.
The Delaware State Police issued the following statement shortly after we reported the incident:
“Please avoid the 23000 block of Deep Creek Drive in Lincoln due to an ongoing criminal investigation. There is no threat to the public. Additional details will be provided via a news release when available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”
Several sources have told FSU that detectives are conducting an investigation at the home after two were injured by gunfire. Shortly after police arrived, there was a search conducted nearby that utilized the police helicopter.
This is a developing situation, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
