Appo School Choice Meeting Set For Tuesday

The Appoquinimink School District (ASD) has announced that its annual School Choice Information Meeting will take place on October 15, 2024, at 6 p.m. This meeting is important for families interested in utilizing Delaware’s “school choice” law, which allows students to attend public schools outside their designated district, provided there is available capacity.

The meeting will offer a detailed overview of the application procedures for the 2025-2026 school year. Applications will be accepted starting November 4, 2024, and must be submitted by January 8, 2025. ASD has noted that the district is experiencing rapid growth, with several schools already nearing or at capacity. As a result, space in many schools may be limited, and parents are encouraged to attend this session to better understand the process and assess their options.

The meeting will be held both in person and online. For those wishing to attend in person, it will take place at the Marion E. Proffitt Training Center located at 118 S. Sixth Street, Middletown, Delaware. For virtual attendance, a livestream will be available at bit.ly/appoyoutube.

For any questions or further information, families can contact the ASD School Choice Office at [email protected] or call 302-376-4135.

This session provides an important opportunity for families considering school choice for their children, offering insight into available options and the application process for the upcoming academic year.
