Cecil County Authorities Charge Aberdeen Officer With Rape

Cecil County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have arrested a police officer on rape and related charges.

Officials said in early January 2024, the administrative staff of the Aberdeen Police Department (ADP) was made aware of a possible sexual assault allegation involving a member of their police department. 

After identifying the officer involved and learning of the location of the incident, APD staff immediately contacted Cecil County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division members to initiate a criminal investigation officials said Tuesday. 

On February 1, 2024, APD staff members were provided with information that led them to suspend the police powers of the accused, identified as Radovan Jovic, 33.  Officials have alleged that Jovic committed this act in March of 2019 in the 2000 block of West Creek Village apartments. 

Jovic has been charged with Second Degree Rape, Third Degree Sex Offense, Fourth Degree Sex Offense, Assault Second Degree, False Imprisonment, and Misconduct in Office.  Jovic was a six-year veteran of the Aberdeen Police Department and was assigned as an acting Corporal in the Patrol Division at the time of his suspension.

Jovic was placed under arrest on October 7, 2024, He was committed to the Cecil County Detention Center on no bond.
