Fire Rips Through Home In Newark Thursday

A residential fire occurred in the 400 block of Pierce Run in the Village of Fox Meadow, in Newark, early this morning. The initial 9:50 AM call came from a resident reporting a neighbor’s roof was on fire. Responding crews arrived on the scene to find visible fire and reports from neighbors suggesting the possibility of individuals trapped inside.

Firefighters made entry to conduct searches while working to combat the blaze. By approximately 10:05 AM, significant progress had been made in extinguishing the fire on the first and second floors of the two-story residence.

Thorough primary searches conducted by crews did not locate any victims. A subsequent secondary search confirmed that no individuals were inside the home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire and extent of the damage are currently under investigation.
