Delaware State Police have arrested 25-year-old Cody Toomey of Dover, Delaware following a shooting incident that occurred in Dover that left one man injured.
Officials said on October 3, 2024, at approximately 8:37 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 300 block of David Hall Road in Dover for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers said Toomey and the victim were working on a vehicle in the driveway when Toomey placed an unsecured gun on the front steps of the house. A 3-year-old family member found the gun and fired a shot, hitting the victim.
Toomey was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – 2 counts. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,000 secured bond.
