Police: Disguised Teen Facing Multiple Charges

Wilmington Police have arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile on multiple gun-related charges in a case that underscores the growing concern over youth violence in the city. The arrest, made on October 3, occurred after officers from the Uniformed Services Division observed the young suspect behaving suspiciously in the 200 block of North Dupont Street police said Thursday. When approached, the juvenile fled, discarding a firearm during the chase. Following a brief pursuit, he was taken into custody without further incident.

The charges against the juvenile are serious and include Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Resisting Arrest. After being arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11, the teen was committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on $37,000 secured bail.
