Early Wednesday morning, crews responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on I-95 southbound at Route 141. The crash reportedly involved a dump truck that was split in half.
Initial reports suggest that the Route 141 bridge was struck. The Route 141 northbound span has been closed for inspection. As a result of the incident, significant traffic diversions have been put in place. All southbound traffic on I-95 is being redirected onto I-295 and exiting at Route 13. Meanwhile, all northbound traffic is being rerouted into Wilmington and onto I-295. The off-ramp to Route 141 northbound is also closed. I-495 SB is also being pushed onto I-295.
Debris from the crash has spread across the roadway, leading to an extended closure of I-95 southbound. Authorities are working to clear the area and inspect for further damage. At this time, no information on injuries has been released. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and plan for alternate routes.
