Firefighters Quickly Contain Friday Morning House Fire

File

On Friday morning at approximately 10:10 a.m., Wilmington firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on the 1300 block of Banning Street.

Upon arrival, crews noted smoke coming from a two-story, middle-of-the-row residence. Wilmington Fire Department quickly established command at the scene and requested the Wilmington Police Department to close South Broom Street to ensure safe operations for responding units.

Firefighters entered the home and conducted a thorough search of all floors, confirming that the house was unoccupied. Shortly after, crews located the source of the fire and initiated water suppression, working to contain the flames. Firefighters combed through each floor, verifying no occupants were present and assessing any potential spread of the fire.

By approximately 10:30 a.m., the fire was extinguished, with no extension to other sections of the home. Fire investigators have arrived on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
