Police Say Man Was Dealing Drugs Across The County

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team have arrested 25-year-old Akim Gordon of Wilmington after a month-long investigation into the distribution of narcotics throughout the county.

The investigation began in October 2024, focusing on suspected drug activity across New Castle County. Officials said utilizing investigative methods, officers identified Gordon as a suspect in the operation.

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the New Castle County SWAT team executed simultaneous search warrants at two locations: a residence in the 200 block of North Ford Avenue and another in the 800 block of West 9th Street in Wilmington. Gordon was apprehended at the West 9th Street residence without incident.

The searches led to the seizure of evidence, including 22.23 grams of heroin, 2.37 grams of crack cocaine, drug packaging materials, a digital scale often associated with drug trafficking, and a stolen handgun originally reported missing from Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to the drug-related offenses, Gordon faces four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child, linked to the circumstances of the investigation.

  • Misdemeanor: Four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
  • Misdemeanor: Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gordon was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11. He was subsequently committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $157,100 cash bail.
