The Dover Police Department has formally recognized Jermaine Milam for his extraordinary bravery during an incident that unfolded on September 27, 2024. While shopping at a local store, Mr. Milam heard urgent cries for help coming from outside the establishment. Without hesitation, he ran toward the commotion and intervened in a dangerous situation.
Mr. Milam’s swift and selfless actions were pivotal in stopping a fleeing suspect involved in an attempted robbery. Demonstrating remarkable composure and courage, he successfully subdued the individual, removing a pocketknife from the suspect and restraining them until officers from the Dover Police Department arrived on the scene.
In their subsequent investigation, police discovered that the suspect was a local fugitive operating a stolen motorcycle. Thanks to Mr. Milam’s heroic intervention, a potentially dangerous situation was brought to a safe resolution.
The recognition presented to Mr. Milam commends his “selfless and brave actions” and highlights his willingness to assist others without regard for his own safety. The Dover Police Department acknowledged his vital role in maintaining public safety and ensuring that the suspect was apprehended.
