Truck Driver Critically Injured In Friday Rollover

On Friday a rollover crash involving a dump truck occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. on West Basin Road near the North DuPont Highway onramp, bringing a multi-agency emergency response. The incident left the truck’s driver, a 40-year-old male, critically injured and requiring extrication.

Emergency units from the Goodwill Fire Company, Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Delaware Air National Guard Fire Department, Belvedere Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company, and New Castle County Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the overturned dump truck with the driver trapped inside. Rescuers worked for approximately 15 minutes to extricate the man.

Once freed, the driver was transported by New Castle County Paramedics aboard a Goodwill ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. He sustained critical injuries, including extremity injuries, head trauma, and possible internal injuries.

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
