Two To Hospital After Morning Rollover, One By Air

At approximately 8:00 a.m. Thursday, emergency crews were dispatched to a reported rollover crash on Route 13 at Blackbird Forest Road in Townsend. Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had overturned, trapping two occupants inside.

Upon arrival, responders confirmed that the vehicle was on its side with both individuals were unable to exit. Rescue crews began working to extricate the occupants while additional resources were called to the scene.

To facilitate emergency operations, Route 13 was closed in both directions. Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 was requested to assist with patient transport and was cleared to land near the crash site.

Both occupants were freed from the vehicle at approximately 8:30 a.m. One patient was transferred to Trooper 4 and airlifted to Christiana Hospital for further medical evaluation and care.

The second patient was transported to Christiana Hospital by ground ambulance.

Route 13 was reopened at around 8:40.
