Bear Man Charged With Sexual Solicitation Of A Child

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 31-year-old Edward Wright of Bear following an investigation into the Sexual Solicitation of a Child.

Officials said in September 2024, officers responded to the Waterford Trailer Park community regarding a sexual solicitation of a child complaint. A 14-year-old male victim reported being contacted by an unknown individual through text messages and Snapchat.

The suspect, who police say identified himself as an adult, attempted to arrange a meeting with the juvenile at a nearby location under the pretense of sexual interactions police said Friday.

The juvenile reported the incident to the New Castle County Police and provided video evidence of the suspect who had been contacting him officials said.

Detectives assumed the investigation and identified Wright as the suspect. On January 15, 2025, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and Wright was taken into custody on January 16, 2025.

Edward was then arraigned at the New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with One felony count of sexual solicitation of a child under 18 and One felony count of promoting sexual solicitation of a child under 18.

Wright was arraigned on all these charges at the Justice of Peace 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $100,000 cash bail
