The Traffic Services Unit of the New Castle County Division of Police has launched an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Officials said shortly after 4:00 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the unit block of Reads Way following reports of a person lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 54-year-old male who had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle involved fled the scene without stopping.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Authorities have not yet identified the driver or the vehicle involved in the incident.
The Traffic Services Unit is urging anyone with information regarding this case to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the incident are encouraged to contact New Castle County Police directly or provide tips anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to gather evidence and locate the responsible party.
