Newark, DE – The Delaware State Police have arrested six male students, ranging in age from 16 to 17, for assault-related charges stemming from a physical altercation that occurred earlier this month at Glasgow High School.
The incident took place on January 15, 2025, at approximately 12:50 p.m. in the hallway of Glasgow High School, located at 1901 S. College Avenue in Newark. According to authorities, the school’s Resource Officer and staff were alerted to a large fight involving multiple students. The students were quickly separated by the responding officer and school staff.
Following an investigation, police identified the participants as a 17-year-old student from Bear, a 16-year-old from New Castle, a 17-year-old from Newark, a 17-year-old from New Castle, a 16-year-old from Newark, and another 17-year-old from Bear. The investigation showed that the altercation was mutual.
During the fight, the 16-year-old from New Castle and the 17-year-old from Newark were found to have kicked the 17-year-old student from Bear, who required medical attention. He was transported by emergency medical services to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released. The investigation further showed that the 17-year-old from Newark also kicked a second 17-year-old student from Bear police said. The second victim was evaluated by the school nurse and subsequently turned over to his guardian.
The other involved students were released to their guardians pending the outcome of the investigation.
On January 27, 2025, two of the teens—the 16-year-old from New Castle and the 17-year-old from Newark—surrendered to authorities at Delaware State Police Troop 2, where they were formally charged with several offenses, including felonies. The remaining four students received criminal summonses and were charged with misdemeanor offenses.
