Three Injured In Newark Accident, Two In Critical Condition

At approximately 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday, emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Route 896 and Route 40 following reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

New Castle County Paramedics, the Christiana Fire Company, and the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company responded to the scene, where they found a two-car collision involving a commercial van and a pickup truck.

New Castle County Paramedics Assistant Public Information Officer Leslie Antonelli-Hobbs provided details on the patients’ initial assessments. An approximately 16-year-old male was found to be in stable condition and transported by Christiana Fire Company Basic Life Support (BLS) to a local hospital. Two other individuals sustained critical injuries.

A 50-year-old male suffered abdominal injuries, chest injuries, and possible internal injuries; he was transported in critical condition by New Castle County Paramedics aboard a Christiana Fire Company ambulance. Additionally, a 33-year-old male, also in critical condition, was treated for extremity injuries, chest injuries, and possible internal injuries before being transported by paramedics in another Christiana Fire Company ambulance.

Delaware State Police are investigating the accident.
