At 2:44 p.m. on January 1, 2025, emergency services were dispatched to a structure fire at the Fox Run Apartments on the 1000 block of Woodchuck Place in Bear for reports of a fire. The New Castle County Paramedics responded alongside the Christiana Fire Company and several mutual aid fire companies.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel confirmed an active fire in the apartment building with multiple injuries reported. A total of five individuals were transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton for treatment.
The following injuries were reported:
- An 8-month-old male suffered smoke inhalation and was transported in serious but stable condition.
- A 33-year-old female also sustained smoke inhalation and was transported in serious but stable condition.
- A 5-month-old female was treated for smoke inhalation and transported in stable condition.
- A 20-year-old female with smoke inhalation was transported in stable condition.
- A 36-year-old male was transported in serious condition by a basic life support ambulance.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Responding agencies included the New Castle County EMS (Paramedics), Christiana Fire Company, and fire companies from Delaware City, Claymont, Cranston Heights, Minquas, Port Penn, Belvedere, Good Will, and Wilmington Manor.
