Delaware State Police apprehended 65-year-old Gregory Collins of Wilmington, Delaware, following a robbery at a Citizens Bank earlier today.
Officials said the incident unfolded on Saturday morning, at approximately 10:05 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to the Citizens Bank located at 1620 Marsh Road, Wilmington, in response to a robbery report. Troopers said that an unidentified black male suspect approached a bank teller at the front counter, demanding money while brandishing an unknown object concealed beneath his shirt in a menacing manner.
The bank employee complied with the suspect’s demands. The suspect then fled the scene in a blue Mitsubishi Outlander, making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Through investigative efforts, troopers tracked down the suspect, later identified as Gregory Collins, in the vicinity of a motel in New Castle. Collins was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, Troop 2 Robbery Detectives reviewed video surveillance footage from Citizens Bank, which confirmed Collins as the perpetrator police said.
Collins was subsequently transported to Troop 2, where he was formally charged with Robbery 1st Degree (Felony). He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and remanded to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $60,000 secured bond.
