Lewes, DE – Authorities have arrested a 42-year-old man following the discovery of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory at a residence on Beebe Avenue.
On Wednesday, February 19, members of the Lewes Police Department executed a search warrant as part of a long-term narcotics investigation. Officers suspected the location was being used for the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine.
Officials said during the search, law enforcement officials uncovered numerous chemical compounds, ingredients, tools, and equipment configured to produce methamphetamine. In addition to the illicit lab setup, police found a quantity of methamphetamine, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, a Ruger 9mm handgun, two boxes of 9mm ammunition, and several unknown substances requiring further analysis.
Following the investigation, police identified and arrested the resident, Zachary Olon. He was charged with multiple offenses, including:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Class B Felony)
- Knowingly Operating an Unlawful Clandestine Laboratory (Class C Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) (Class B Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class B Misdemeanor)
Authorities said that further testing will be conducted on the unknown substances recovered at the scene.
