Man Charged In September Stabbing

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a 2024 stabbing incident following an investigation.

Officials said on September 19, 2024, at approximately 10:51 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 100 block of West 22nd Street in reference to a stabbing incident. Upon arrival, police located a 66-year-old male stabbing victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wilkers identified 58-year-old Mark Honie as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest police said Monday. On January 31, police executed a search warrant in the 700 block of West Street and took Honie into custody without incident.

Honie has been charged with Assault (First Degree). He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $30,000 cash-only bail.
