Family and friends will gather this Saturday, February 22, 2025, to remember Alexandr “Sasha” Kirsanov, Julia Kay, Sean Elijah Kay, Angela Yang, and Zheheng “Lily” Li, members of the University of Delaware Skating Club who tragically lost their lives in the January 29, 2025, plane crash in Washington, D.C.
The service will take place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fred Rust Ice Arena, 549 S. College Avenue, Newark. Following the service, interment will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway in New Castle.
The City of Newark has advised motorists to expect heavy traffic along South College Avenue near the university’s sports complex, particularly between 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM, as the funeral procession moves through the area. DelDOT has placed electronic signs along Route 13 in New Castle warning of possible delays.
