On February 1, 2025, at approximately 6:44 p.m., Milford Police Department officers were dispatched to the 900 block of SE Front Street for a reported hit-and-run motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect vehicle had struck multiple fixed objects, causing significant damage to both the objects and the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
According to Public Information Officer Sgt. Timothy Maloney, officers received additional information shortly after regarding a suspicious vehicle in the unit block of Meadow Lark Drive within the Meadows of Shawnee development. The vehicle reportedly had extensive front-end damage consistent with the hit-and-run incident. Witnesses informed police that a white female was seen fleeing from the vehicle. Officers responded to the scene and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Dover, Delaware.
During their investigation, officers located and apprehended the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Staci Weldon of Dagsboro. Weldon was taken into custody without further incident. The investigation led to multiple charges against Weldon, including felony-level receiving stolen property over $1,500, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief under $1,000, and several traffic violations.
Additionally, authorities discovered that Weldon was wanted by the Delaware State Police and had several active court capias for her arrest. Following her apprehension, she was presented before Justice of the Peace Court 7.
Weldon was committed to the Department of Correction on a combined $11,000 cash bond and $5,201 secured bond.
