On Sunday, March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:06 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the unit block of Clarion Court in the community of Kimberton for reports of multiple gunshots.
Upon arrival, Officers discovered that two residences on Clarion Court had been struck by gunfire. While searching the area for evidence, they were notified that a victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body had arrived at Christiana Hospital by private vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim, identified as 19-year-old Jahliel Jackson, was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Division’s Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Detection Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Officials said Detectives investigating the shooting developed a 13-year-old Wilmington male as the suspect. The juvenile was charged with One Count of Murder in the First Degree, One Count of Possession of Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited under 21, and One Count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
