Avelo Airlines Expands Service at Wilmington Airport with New Routes

Avelo Airlines is expanding its presence at Philadelphia’s Wilmington Airport (ILG) with the launch of two new nonstop routes, providing travelers with direct access to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) in Florida and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina. The new flights, set to begin in May, will offer passengers an affordable and convenient travel option with fares starting at $39.

The addition of these routes makes Avelo the only airline providing nonstop service between Wilmington and these two destinations. The Jacksonville flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays starting May 23, while service to Raleigh-Durham will commence on May 22, with flights on Thursdays and Sundays.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to providing affordable and reliable service to the Greater Philadelphia and Delaware Valley regions. “ILG – We’re growing again!” Levy stated. “These new routes make traveling to North Carolina’s Research Triangle and northeast Florida easier than ever.”

Tom Cook, Executive Director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority, welcomed the announcement, noting the significance of Avelo’s growing presence at Wilmington Airport. “We’re pleased that Avelo continues to add to its flight schedule at ILG,” Cook said. “The Authority is all-in to help Avelo succeed and grow their customer base here. We look forward to the successful launch of both Jacksonville and Raleigh-Durham routes.”

With the addition of these destinations, Avelo now serves 14 cities from ILG, including Myrtle Beach, Nashville, San Juan, Wilmington (N.C.), and multiple locations in Florida. The airline, which has flown over 6.3 million passengers since its launch in 2021, has gained recognition for its industry-leading reliability, boasting the lowest flight cancellation rate in the U.S. in 2024.

The Jacksonville route will provide travelers with access to the city’s 22 miles of beaches, eco-adventures, and thriving dining scene, while the Raleigh-Durham service offers direct entry to North Carolina’s Research Triangle, home to leading universities and cultural attractions.

Avelo Airlines continues to expand its footprint by offering direct flights from smaller, hassle-free airports, aiming to enhance convenience for travelers.
